FAQ for Artists

What is Crib of Art?

Crib of Art is a curated platform for premium wall art. Our mission is to make the perfect art for any room, because we firmly believe that art is the soul of delight.

We collaborate with selected artists to create collections designed for modern interiors, offering high-quality prints and framed artworks to customers worldwide.

What makes Crib of Art different from other art platforms?

Crib of Art is not an open marketplace where anyone can upload unlimited artwork. We carefully curate artists and collections to ensure a consistent level of quality, originality, and visual cohesion. Our focus is on building thoughtful collections and long-term relationships with artists rather than operating as a volume-based platform.

What kind of artists do you work with?

We work with photographers, painters, illustrators, mixed-media artists, digital artists, and other visual creators whose work aligns with our curatorial direction.

Do I need a large social media following?

No. We primarily evaluate the quality of the artwork, its suitability for premium wall art, and how well it fits the Crib of Art collection. A large following is not required.

Can AI-generated artwork be submitted?

We review submissions on a case-by-case basis. Artists must have the necessary rights to the work they submit and be transparent about how it was created. All submissions are evaluated according to the same standards of originality, quality, and suitability for the platform.

Applying & Artwork Selection

How many artworks do I need to submit?

We usually ask artists to submit between 5 and 15 artworks for review.

Will all submitted artworks be accepted?

Not necessarily. We curate our platform, and each artwork is reviewed individually based on quality, originality, print readiness, brand fit, and commercial potential.

Why might only some of my artworks be selected?

Some pieces may be stronger fits for our audience, product formats, or collection strategy than others. Our goal is to build cohesive collections that perform well while remaining true to the artist's vision.

What types of artwork perform best on Crib of Art?

There is no single formula, but work with a strong visual identity, cohesive series, compelling composition, and suitability for residential or commercial interiors generally performs well. We are more than welcome to try your suggestion and your vision.

Can Crib of Art ask for additional artworks?

Yes. We may request additional artworks if we believe they would strengthen the collection or align particularly well with customer preferences.

Can I submit new work later?

Absolutely. Many artists begin with a small collection and later expand their presence on the platform by submitting additional works. We can also ask you to replace certain artworks if we test that they are not working with our audience.

Is acceptance guaranteed once I submit artwork?

No. All submissions are reviewed before approval. Being invited to apply, submit work and sign the agreement does not automatically guarantee acceptance.

Why was my application declined?

Because Crib of Art is a curated platform, not every artist or collection will align with our current direction. This is a very rare case since we reach out to artists that we admire and that we want to work with them. We tend to ask for different art pieces instead.

However, for spontaneous applications, this might happen more frequently. A declined application is not necessarily a reflection of artistic quality. It may simply mean the work is not the right fit for our audience, collection strategy, or release schedule at this time.

Copyright & Ownership

Do I keep the copyright to my artwork?

Yes. You retain full ownership and copyright of your artwork at all times.

What rights does Crib of Art receive?

Crib of Art receives a limited license to reproduce, market, and sell the approved artworks during the active collaboration period, according to the terms of the agreement.

Can I continue selling my work elsewhere?

In most cases, yes. Our standard collaborations are non-exclusive, meaning artists are generally free to work with galleries, licensing agencies, print platforms, and other partners.

In some cases, we collaborate with artists to create limited and exclusive series in which we sign a different agreement that could include an exclusivity clause.

Can my artwork be used outside of product sales?

Your approved artwork may be used in connection with promoting and selling your collection, including on the Crib of Art website, social media channels, email marketing campaigns, digital advertising, and other promotional materials.

Will you edit my artwork?

No. We do not alter the artistic content of your work. We may resize, crop, or format files when necessary for framing formats or mockup creation.

The Collaboration Process

How long is the agreement?

We typically begin with a 3-month collaboration period. This allows both Crib of Art and the artist to evaluate the partnership and review collection performance before deciding on a renewal.

When does the collaboration period begin?

The collaboration begins when the approved artwork is published and goes live on the Crib of Art website. As soon as the artwork is live on our website, the artist gets informed by Crib of Art’s team.

What happens after the first 3 months?

Before the agreement expires, we review performance and discuss next steps. Depending on results and mutual interest, we may renew the collaboration, refresh the collection, add new artworks, or conclude the partnership.

Can either party end the collaboration early?

Yes. Both the artist and Crib of Art may end the collaboration early by providing written notice according to the agreement. Any royalties owed from completed, non-refunded sales will still be paid according to the normal payout schedule. All artist-related information, images and listings will be removed from the platform within 15 days of confirming receipt of the termination notice.

Can my collection launch later than expected?

Yes. Collections are scheduled based on our release calendar and the number of artists currently in our pipeline. This allows us to give each collection the attention and visibility it deserves. We will keep you informed throughout the process and provide an approximate launch date once it has been scheduled.

What happens after my collection goes live?

Once your collection is live, we manage product listings, mockups, production, fulfillment, customer service, and marketing activities. We also monitor performance and provide regular updates.

How involved do I need to be after onboarding?

Very little. We handle the operational side of the business, while artists remain focused on creating new work.

Sales, Royalties & Payments

How much do artists earn?

Artists receive 20% royalties on sales of approved artworks, according to the terms outlined in the agreement.

How are artwork prices determined?

Crib of Art sets retail pricing based on production costs, framing options, product formats, market positioning, and platform strategy.

How do I get paid?

Payments are made through the payment method agreed upon during onboarding. We will confirm your preferred payment details before issuing payouts.

When are payouts made?

Payouts are processed monthly based on completed, non-refunded orders from the previous month.

Will I receive a sales report or performance updates?

Yes. Artists may receive sales reporting with their payout, including completed sales and royalty information. We also provide periodic updates regarding collection performance, including sales information, best-performing artworks, and recommendations when relevant.

What happens if a customer requests a refund?

Refunds are handled entirely by Crib of Art. Royalties are only paid on completed, non-refunded sales.

Collection Management & Renewals

What happens if an artwork is not performing?

We regularly review collection performance. If certain artworks are not generating strong interest, we may recommend replacing them with alternative pieces or expanding successful series. This review usually takes place after the second month of the agreement or during the renewal process at the end of the initial three-month period.

Can I request the removal of specific artworks?

Yes. Artists may request the removal of artworks according to the terms outlined in the agreement.

Will I be notified if an artwork is removed or replaced?

Yes. Whenever possible, we will communicate any significant collection changes and provide context when appropriate.

What happens when the collaboration ends?

Once the collaboration ends, Crib of Art's license to sell the approved artworks also ends, except where necessary for financial records or pending order fulfillment. The artist's collection, profile, and related materials will be removed from the platform according to the agreement.

What happens to orders placed before the collaboration ends?

Orders placed before termination may still need to be fulfilled. A reasonable fulfillment period is allowed for orders already received prior to the end of the agreement.

What if I want to end the collaboration?

Artists may end the collaboration by providing written notice according to the agreement terms. Any outstanding royalties from completed, non-refunded sales will still be paid.
