Barry Gu works under the artist name BarryEkko. He's a Vancouver-based opera illustrator with a focus on opera, culture, and place-based storytelling. Much of his professional work involves creating posters, visual campaigns, and marketing materials for opera productions, as well as book and publication covers. Inspired by the cities, landscapes, and communities of the Pacific Northwest, his work blends contemporary illustration with a sense of nostalgia, atmosphere, and narrative.
